A disappointing spell at Chelsea seems to have come to an end for Alvaro Morata.
A loan move to Atletico Madrid seems imminent with Morata keen on re-joining the Rojiblancos where he first started his youth transfer.
A loan deal worth €10 million with an option to buy in the summer for about €48 million in the summer has been agreed, a deal which would see Chelsea recover the money they spent buying him.
The transfer had been held up, with Chelsea seeking to bring in a replacement first as Sarri reiterated that a replacement must be brought in if Morata was to leave. From news making the rounds however, that seems not to be a problem as a loan deal for Higuain from Juventus is set to be confirmed in the coming hours.
Alvaro Morata to Atletico Madrid is done. Loan with option to buy, £48.5m option. Chelsea signed him for £58m plus add-ons to £70m, suffice to say he won't have hit many of the objectives add-ons but a loss made on him. Door is opening for Higuain to join Chelsea. #CFC— Nizaar Kinsella (@NizaarKinsella) January 21, 2019
The Argentine striker spent the first half of the season with AC Milan on loan as the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus rendered him surplus to requirements. A deal however has been agreed for Higuain to join Chelsea on loan till the end of the season, with an option to buy in the summer if such deal suits both parties.
Higuain is reportedly on his way to London for his Chelsea medical and Gennaro Gatusso, manager of AC Milan having tried his best to keep hold of Higuain has conceded that a transfer is well and truly underway.
“I accept his decision,” Gattuso said.
“Surely he could have done more and maybe we could have helped him fit in better.”
AC Milan are now hoping to sign Krzysztof Piatek who has enjoyed a brilliant start to this season at Genoa. A triangle of transfers seem to be playing out at the moment and the Chelsea faithful will be hoping that Gonzalo Higuain can replicate his outstanding goalscoring record under Maurizio Sarri at Napoli here at Chelsea.
